Adieu
I finally decided to stop blogging here (at least for now). My paid blogging stint will take a momentary pause to give way to a few personal projects. I will continue to update my personal blog and hobbies blog though.
Thanks for visiting and leaving wonderful comments. I will try my best to catch up with my blog-hopping.
Until then.
Our Trip to Perth
My husband’s two-week business trip to Perth is confirmed. We are looking at joining him there on his second week. Good thing that his company will cover my and my daughter’s fares.
I am a little worried though about the stuff I need to bring with me. My daughter’s toys and necessities won’t definitely fit one luggage! Despite that, I am excited to see Perth.
Dream Travel Destinations
My husband and I love to travel. On our list of must-see places are Italy, Spain and the UK. There is so much to learn and experience when visiting different countries. The world somehow becomes bigger than what we think when we immerse ourselves into the different cultures and norms of people.
When planning for major vacations, I diligently scout for reasonably-priced plane fares and good accommodation. It is good that there are websites that offer specific accommodation and transportation services for the country of your choice. If you are looking for hotels in Rome, hotels in Barcelona, hotels in London or even Hotels in Amsterdam, the search is now made easy because of these travel websites.
Now, the only thing we need to achieve our travel plans are lots of vacation leaves and tons of money! Hee.
Yummy Treats
One of the more popular gift suggestions for any special occasion is cakes or pastries. Who can resist a yummy bite of chocolate chip cookies or, choco mud cake or a plain chocolate crème cake? It’s obvious that I’m partial with chocolate. Hee.
Laura’s House Bakery located in Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina sells a variety of treats from cookies, cakes to jams. They make these delectable goodies on site so the customers are assured of quality. Laura’s bakery has an online ordering system and they allow international orders as well. According to their website “they ship anywhere around the world”.
They accept small to wholesale orders; usually restaurants or hotels make mass orders of these desserts. I can tell from their site that their best offers are their cakes, brownies and cookies. What caught my eye though are those bottled jams. I love them especially strawberry and grape jams. However, I have only tried commercially-sold jams, never homemade. From Laura’s bakery’s website, those goodies look homemade and they are not expensive at all.
A good selling point of this bakery is having their business listed as one of the best bakeries in foodnetwork.com. I am now craving for these delicious desserts.

A Business In the Making?
One of our friends is inviting me to join her in a business venture. I can’t share all the details here but just a hint, it has something to do with babies/children must-haves.
When she shared her ideas, I got excited. I thought this could pave the way for me to have my own business and work from home. I broached to her the concept of marketing/selling online. With the potential of this business and if we acquire a reputable online store software, I’m sure our (future) business will be safe.
There is this popular ecommerce software called ashopcommerce.com. It is a complete suit of shopping cart software. Its complete features make it an award winning shopping cart software. The functions are user friendly and the best part is it is customizable. Imagine being able to make design changes to suit your business image? It will definitely draw more customers to make purchases.
However, this business concept needs further brainstorming. If we want to take this seriously, we need to give more time and focus to draw up a plan. How I wish this part is as easy as signing up for the online store.
Mommies
Have you gotten your mom a Mother’s Day gift yet? Care to share what it is?
I made orders for two bouquets from Filgifts, for the greatest mothers in the world, my mother and sister. Here’s how they look:

For my mother-in-law, since she is in Philly right now, we requested my sister-in-law to get us a gift for her.
Care to share your gifts for your special moms?

No Diet Pills for Me
I have written previously about my weight problem when I was in college. I have to say that taking diet pills crossed my mind. I wanted to get slim without exercising (yes, I am lazy to hit the gym) and I wanted fast results.
Now that I have lost a lot of weight, thanks to my housework routine and my very active toddler, I am grateful that I never had to take pills like phentermine without a prescription. It is scary to think of the side effects, which is why it is best to consult a doctor before popping these pills.
Would you rather
Would you rather be on Survivor or Big Brother? (and no, you cannot say neither, that’s not fair, pick one)
I’d rather be in Big Brother (Philippines version — Pinoy Big Brother). The PBB version is more conservative (for me) rather than the one they have here in Australia. I heard from the news that the previous season showed couples bathing and doing the deed — that’s too much for me to be aired on TV.

Now A PPP Postie
One of the more popular paid sites is PayPerPost. As soon as my account was approved, I immediately signed-in and took a quick look at the website’s features, navigation and tools.
What I like best is the facility to see all the available opportunities whether you are qualified to take it or not. Being qualified means that your blog meets the requirements of the advertiser, like PR ranking and domain restrictions. Then there is a button for “qualified” opportunities. All you need to do is refresh it every now and then to see what you can work on for the day! So how much money you make depends entirely on you, on how much time you want to spend writing posts for the ads. It is that easy to get paid to blog.
On the main page, there is a portion called “Top Earners”. Once you see how much these guys have made, for sure you will be challenged to do better and earn more!
But as I have shared in my personal blog, paid blogging requires commitment. If you want to make good money, you have to make sure that your site has good visitor traffic and that you have a good PR ranking. Well, now that this site went from 2/10 to zilched as in unranked, I hope this will improve in the next round of Google PR updates.

Women and Pearls
I love pearls. To me, they make any woman look sophisticated and beautiful. At least that is how I feel when I wear them. What’s nice about these beauties is that they have many different types like the popular ones I know — fresh water, cultured or the Japanese culture type called Mikimoto. With the wide price range depending on the pearl type, you can surely afford to buy a pearl jewelry set. And, for the untrained eye, you won’t be able to tell the difference between the expensive and cheap types.
I found a simple bracelet in lightinthebox.com, which could make for a nice Mother’s Day gift. It has shades of pink, purple and white. It is not intimidating or too formal. Since it is made of fresh water pearls, it is not expensive at all! The online store has an offer for wholesale purchase. If you buy three items of the same design, the total price is discounted and the shipping is free!

If you haven’t bought a gift for your special moms, why don’t you hop over to the site and take a peek? They have a variety of jewelry set, there should be something there that fits your liking.
Dental Hygiene
My in-laws like to send articles about health through our family e-group. Among the many that I received, this one particularly got my interest. It’s about toothbrush care. But before you go on to read the excerpt, how many of you out there use a toothbrush cover? Do you leave your toothbrush in a cup, a holder or just beside the sink? Is it placed near the toilet bowl or you hide them inside the cabinet? Read on.
“Take your commode: There are 3.2 million microbes per square inch in the average toilet bowl, according to germ expert Chuck Gerba, PhD, a professor of environmental microbiology at University of Arizona. When you flush, aerosolized toilet funk is propelled as far as 6 FEET, settling on the floor, the sink, and yes, your toothbrush. Shutting the lid, of course, is probably a smart move, but at the very least, put anything that goes inside your mouth behind closed doors (your medicine cabinet will do just fine).” [source]
Gee, the thought of toilet bowl germs landing on my toothbrush just grosses me out! So, if your toothbrush is “exposed” to your commode, time to move it elsewhere!
My Two Scents
I am not a big fan of strong perfumes. In fact, I have horrible experiences while in the train cars back in Singapore. You see, it is bad enough when you are squeezed in between commuters, when the only way you could breathe properly is to bow your head with your chin touching your chest, but it is worse if the person next to you is wearing a heavy scent!
That is why I am very particular as to when I should wear perfumes. And more particular on the brand that I use. Although it has been a while since I last bought a bottle, owing it to an advice that parents should keep from using scents around their babies. But maybe, just maybe, when my daughter becomes less sensitive to it, I just might consider getting a His and Hers BOSS fragrances.
As I surf the net, Boss-fragrances has a lot of good and interesting scents to choose from:
Remember the popular Hugo BOSS scent from years ago? Now the BOSS collection includes BOSS Bottled, BOSS Selection, BOSS femme, BOSS Intense, Essence de Femme and BOSS Soul.

I think the fragrance BOSS In Motion or BOSS In Motion Edition would suit my husband very well and for me, it’ll be BOSS Woman. This brand has been around for quite some time and its prestige is a good enough basis for me to consider getting a set.

Great Gift Ideas
There is this cool site for personalized t-shirts called www.sonicshack.com. They offer customized digital printing on different kinds of garments like t-shirts, sweat shirts, jerseys and custom hats and bags, too.
You can design your own t-shirts using an application that is very user-friendly. You choose the garment’s style, material, color, graphic design and text and, voila! You already have custom t-shirts.
One product I particularly like is called Family Reunion. It’s a set of different t-shirt styles and materials that each member of the family will surely like. Who says that customized shirts need to be of the same style?
They have an ongoing promotion for Mother’s Day. You can order one customized item or order in bulk and get a discount! I played with the design application and managed to come up with this.

Isn’t it cute? The bag in itself is pretty and it looks durable, too. I just added the text “World’s Best Mom”. I actually like tote bags especially when I go shopping, maybe I should get one for myself. Hee.
And for those interested to make money through their blogs, SonicShack has a paid advertising offer. You just need to put up their logo on your blog and start making profit. With their very saleable products, I’m sure you’ll earn through their ads.
Playing Match-Makers
Have you ever tried to play match-maker? Well, my husband and I did but only once. We weren’t successful so we never dared to try again. A close friend of ours has a girl friend who is single and “searching”. When our close friend came to Singapore, she begged us to match her friend to one of our single guy friends. We couldn’t say no.
We set-up the blind date and I tell you it was awkward for me and my husband during the first few minutes when all four of us sat together in the restaurant. Good thing the food was good and the conversations were even better. However, before we parted ways that night both admitted to us that there was no “spark”, rendering our attempt to be a failure.
I don’t think we will go through that if we don’t know at least one of the parties involved. Imagine pairing up two people you do not know. Those advertised dating expert companies can do that. I hear that it match-making is a big business nowadays.
Although I believe that when it comes to matters of the heart, there really is no match-making expert. When two people are meant to be together destiny will play will a role.
Nespresso with George Clooney
I like George Clooney. He looks so suave, confident and handsome. For me, he is the epitome of manliness. Until his 2-minute Nespresso commercial aired. Na-turnoff ako. He looked so old, stripped off the charms he used to have. He is not growing old gracefully, simply put.
Plasmas and TV mounts
When we got our first flat panel TV, we had an option to avail of the free TV mount. Because we are renting, we had to forego it although we like the idea of having the TV mounted to save space.
I discovered then that TV mounts come in different designs. I thought all along they come in simple metal parts that are attached to the wall. I guess we will worry about this bit once we bought our house, a plasma TV and a plasma TV mount.
